Geological Structure of the Sylmar Basin: Implications for Slip Distribution Along the Santa Susana/Hospital and Mission Hills Fault System in the San Fernando Valley, CA, U.S.A.

We developed a forward model using the Trishear module in MOVE to better understand structure of northwestern San Fernando Valley and relationship among Santa Susana, Hospital, Mission Hills Northridge faults. This study was motivated by 1971 earthquake previous work that inferred high slip rate on Susana fault, which is apparent contrast lack significant geomorphic expression fault Sylmar Basin region. trenched anticline from crest base slope demonstrate an actively growing propagation fold.
